A taste of fall heads our way starting tonight. The quiet weather will be abruptly interrupted on Sunday with heavy rain. Delightful weather settles into the borough tonight with dry air and very low humidity. Temperatures will fall back into the lower 60s. A cool northerly breeze may make it feel a bit chilly waking up Saturday morning. High temperatures in the afternoon will fall short of normal and some areas won't rise above 70 degrees.
Saturday's weather isn't the issue - it's Sunday's that may mess up some plans. Count on rain on and off throughout the day. The heaviest rain may fall in the afternoon and evening. There is a moderate chance of some flash flooding, so you may want to think about travel and even parking your car.
Temperatures on Sunday will stay cool with highs only in the 60s. Rainfall rates will pick up in the afternoon and evening. Right now we could see roughly 1-2 inches with some locally higher amounts. Finer details will become clearer the closer we get to Sunday.
A lingering cold front and offshore storm system will keep weather conditions cloudy, cool and unsettled Tuesday through Thursday. There is still uncertainty on the track, timing and intensity of the rainfall.
