Fox Lane High School students have a few cards up their sleeves when it comes to training birds.
Students participated in a four-week animal behavior project.
Students used classical and operant conditioning to teach the quails a new skill. The quails were either conditioned to step up onto a brick, walk around a cone or choose a specific playing card.
School officials say in addition to learning about animal behavior, students also learned important life lessons like patience, collaboration, and problem-solving.
