Regeneron
held a groundbreaking Wednesday at its Tarrytown campus for an expansion
project estimated to make 1,000 new full-time jobs over six years.
The
$1.8 billion effort will create new labs and office space in an area the size
of 19 football fields.
The company will use the labs and offices to help with health initiatives like reversing blindness,
creating treatments for Ebola, COVID-19 and cancers.
They expect construction to happen over the next six years in two
phases that will include road infrastructure improvements to support new
buildings.
The state plans to give the company $100 million in tax credits if they reach their hiring goal.
