President Joe Biden’s administration is pushing for schools to have medication that can help reverse opioid overdoses on hand.
The administration sent a letter to educators, stating that every school across the United States should stock Narcan and naloxone and that faculty and students should be trained to use it.
This comes as there has been a nationwide rise in overdose deaths, particularly among teenagers. Over the past 20 years, more than 5,000 kids and teens have died from overdoses involving fentanyl, according to the JAMA Pediatrics medical journal.
