A bicyclist is in critical condition after police say he was struck by a driver who was impaired by drugs in Inwood Friday night.

According to Nassau County police, Michael Mayosky was driving near the Nassau Expressway and Burnside Avenue around 10 p.m. when he allegedly hit a 31-year-old man riding a bicycle.

The bicyclist was taken to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Residents say the area can be dangerous for people traveling through the neighborhood, particularly at night.

"It's tragic that something like that would happen. It's sad. A lot of people speed around those corners. Late night, people are going out and going in, I wish they would take their time and be more mindful," said Anthony Roberts of Far Rockaway.

Police say Mayosky is facing multiple charges and is expected to be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
