A major gun violence prevention summit is headed to Westchester County this month to bring together some of the top voices in healing, intervention and reform.
Organizers say "Beyond the Bullet" is designed to save lives by shifting the focus from politics to prevention.
The one-day conference in downtown White Plains will feature community leaders, law enforcement, survivors and public health experts from across the state.
Organizers from the Youth Shelter Program of Westchester say it's not just about raising awareness; it's about providing communities with real tools to break the cycle of violence.
"We are excited to bring this conference, and it's not about politics. It's about people, it's about community and it's about standing together to create solutions and really utilizing unlikely allies in this space," said Joanne Dunn, of the Youth Shelter Program of Westchester.
News 12's Tara Rosenblum, who just wrapped her investigative series
"Under the Gun," will be among the featured speakers.
The event will be held on June 23.
