The best of Westchester gathered in New Rochelle on Wednesday night for a celebration of the people, businesses and organizations that help make the county unique.
The annual ‘Best of Westchester’ party was held at Glen Island Harbor, bringing together award-winning businesses, local residents and visitors from across the region.
Guests enjoyed food, drinks, entertainment and the chance to meet some of Westchester's most recognized businesses.
"It's fun, it's a nice night out, it's a different diverse sense of people and community, and everybody's happy," one attendee said.
Many guests said the event was also an opportunity to sample offerings from local restaurants and businesses.
"I came here to have a mom's night out with my friend," another attendee said. "To enjoy the different restaurants, food, drinks."
In addition to celebrating the winners, attendees said the event helps strengthen ties between local businesses and the community.
"There are so few family-owned local families left in the service business," said Michael Chernick. "It's nice to represent a company that cares about families."
Among the winners was Almeida Oil, which earned Best of Westchester honors for its heating and oil services.
"It means that we have power that we are given the opportunity to be able to provide services that usually is in a male-dominated industry," said Karen Grigsby of Almeida Oil. "We know what we're doing and we do it well, and we treat our customers like family."
For many attendees, the night was about recognizing the people and businesses that make Westchester County special.
