A beloved high school football coach has resigned after 26 seasons with Middletown High School South.
Steve Antonucci led the team to three News 12 New Jersey Gillen Trophies – an award for the top team in the state. He also amassed a record of 220-67 with six sectional titles.
Antonucci coached Knowshon Moreno, who starred in college at Georgia and then played for six seasons in the NFL.
The 54-year-old coach says he is looking forward to a year off but left open the possibility of returning to coaching in some way.
