Animal lovers who want to be buried next to their family pet can once again do so at the Hartsdale Pet Cemetery and other pet cemeteries across the state.
The state's Cemetery Board overturned its previous decision and says that human ashes can be buried in the pet cemetery.
Nearly 700 humans were buried in the cemetery before the board banned the practice earlier this year.
The lifting of the ban comes with certain conditions, such as not advertising the service and not charging for it. People interested in the service will also have to sign a waiver relieving the state of any responsibility.
The board also proposed regulations that would allow these type of burials at all pet cemeteries in the state.
