The owners of Barton Orchards say they are determined to follow through with their fall harvest and farmers market after a massive propane fire there on Monday.

"We're going to have to put a tent up and sell out of a tent this year," says owner Peter Barton.

The propane fire that tore through his Dutchess County property Monday took about three hours to get under control.

While two buildings and several farm vehicles were destroyed, Barton says their crops and animals were not touched.

Barton says his team has been brainstorming ways to keep providing a fun farm experience while they clean up and rebuild. 

They are still welcoming people to pick their own produce, offering beer and planning a Labor Day weekend with games and music. 

He says longtime vendors have also been calling to offer help and patrons are sharing memories of the farm on  their Facebook page, which he says is inspiring and fueling the farm's recovery.
