Bail was set Monday at $25,000 for a pregnant Mount Vernon teenager accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death.
The family of 17-year-old Brittany Myers says she did not mean for her boyfriend, Tiquan Maddox, to die. Her family members say he was allegedly attacking her and she tried to fend him off.
Maddox's mother is now expressing frustration that Myers could potentially go free before her trial, but was too distraught to speak with News 12 Westchester.
Defense attorneys for Myers say in the past police were called to remove Maddox from the property of a group home where the pregnant teen was staying.
White Plains police confirmed they were called to a dispute in December at the group home, and in January Maddox was asked to leave the property.
However, no arrests were made. Family members say two court orders of protection were issued to keep both of them away from each other because of a history of domestic violence. Maddox is the father of Myers' unborn child.
