There is a
health alert at Quaker Ridge and Scarsdale Middle School because of a the
recent discovery of a bacteria in the facilities.
Officials say
the bacteria can cause Legionnaires' disease, a form of pneumonia.
Out of an
abundance of caution, all drinking fountains will be covered. Cases of water
will be given to students and cafeteria sinks will not be in use.
School officials
say disinfecting the water system is expected to take between two to three
weeks.
