The Mount Vernon City School District is considering a reconfiguration of its system, which could impact where students go to school.
There are currently 12 neighborhood schools. There are eight pre-K through eighth grade schools and four high schools.
The new plan would separate some schools into elementary and middle schools.
Pre-K through sixth-grade students would be grouped into elementary schools and seventh and eighth-grade students would attend middle schools.
The district wants to go back to the drawing board because district officials believe that reorganizing the schools would improve learning.
The district posted a survey for parents and the community to weigh in.
The district is also collaborating with building-level administrators.
The community has until midnight Wednesday, Jan. 24 to submit their response.
