Authorities say a former teacher at a Yonkers school geared toward students with behavioral and emotional needs has been indicted for enticing one of her students to engage in sexual activity with her.
Sandy Carazas-Pinez, of Bethel, Connecticut, taught at Biondi High School, which is part of Rising Ground.
The 34-year-old was also indicted for alleged production of child pornography.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says the incidents occurred from November 2022 to last February when the victim was 16 years old.
Authorities say the encounters occurred outside of school at various locations, including in Yonkers, the Bronx and Staten Island.
The school issued a statement saying that it is upset, shocked and appalled by the teacher's behavior.
The teacher was terminated after an initial investigation.
The school says it is working with the student involved, family members and the entire student body.
It also said that it has a zero tolerance for inappropriate behavior.
