Westchester County Executive and Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino has unleashed a serious accusation about the head of the county's Independence Party.
Astorino tells News 12 that after he refused to give a job to Independence Party Chairman Giulio Cavallo, he lost out on the party's endorsement.
Astorino also claims Cavallo was under investigation by the now-defunct state Moreland Commission for allegedly "shaking down" other public officials.
Last week, Astorino slammed Gov. Andrew Cuomo for his alleged role in breaking up the ethics commission.
Cuomo won the Independence Party's endorsement in the gubernatorial race.
Cavallo has reportedly denied Astorino's claims, but numerous calls to him seeking comment were not returned. Cuomo's office also did not return requests for comment.
