Nearly 100 arts organizations in Westchester County are set to receive significant funding, marking a new record for ArtsWestchester.
Representatives from various arts groups gathered with local lawmakers at Morton's in White Plains for the announcement.
Last year, 85 arts groups raised over $819,000, the highest amount raised in a single year. Westchester County then matched an additional $463,000, resulting in a grand total of $1.28 million in financial support for the arts.
This funding will be distributed to a variety of arts organizations throughout the county through ArtsWestchester grants, including theatre groups, performance venues and museums.
One of the recipient groups, ARC Stages in Pleasantville, has been significantly impacted by COVID, according to its founder, Marlene Canapi, who emphasized the importance of financial support for their programs.
"Our kids need you. Your financial support means so much," she said.
ArtsWestchester has announced that the challenge for this year's fundraiser will officially begin in August. However, they also mentioned that all organizations will accept donations at any time.
