Appalachian Trail at Bear Mountain State Park reopens after yearlong closure

The trail was closed last July when a storm dropped almost 10 inches of rain on Bear Mountain, damaging the park's infrastructure, water supply, and trail systems.

The Appalachian Trail at Bear Mountain State Park is reopening after being closed for nearly a year.
The trail was closed last July when a storm dropped almost 10 inches of rain on Bear Mountain, damaging the park's infrastructure, water supply and trail systems.
Other previously closed sections of the Major Welch and Suffern-Bear Mountain trails will also reopen to hikers.
