Police say a man who helps fight gang violence was himself almost a victim when several shots were fired in Yonkers.
Jorge Robles, the anti-gang youth coordinator at the Yonkers YMCA, was leaving a group home on Warburton Avenue Thursday night when he says he heard something whiz by his head. Police say there were several rounds fired from a pellet gun, shattering the passenger window of Robles? van. Though Robles feels he wasn't targeted, the incident comes on the heels of increased gang violence in Yonkers and around the county. Robles says parents and people like himself have to mentor kids to help make a difference. Despite being shaken by the shooting incident, Robles says he intends to keep fighting against street gangs.
