The annual Assumption Church Christmas Parade kicked off in Peekskill Sunday.
Thousands of participants did not let the cold weather ruin their fun or interfere with honoring their culture, as the parade is a major part of the holiday in Hispanic culture.
Participants dressed up in costumes, blasted music and decorated their cars with all sorts of snacks and drinks to share.
“We want to bring our traditions from Mexico to Columbia to Ecuador to Argentina to remind you that Jesus is alive and he’s here in our hearts," says
Esteven Sanchez, pastor at Church of Assumption.
The parade route started on Lower South Street and traveled to the Church of Assumption, where they arrived just in time for Christmas Mass.
