Andrew Krivak has been acquitted of the rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl in Putnam County.
The jury, which got the case on Friday afternoon, returned the verdict Monday afternoon.
The remains of 12-year-old Josette Wright were found in Patterson in 1994.
Krivak and Anthony DePippo were charged with the crime. Both men were convicted.
Krivak served 23 years in prison before his conviction was overturned and a new trial was ordered. DePippo served 19 years in prison before he was acquitted after a third trial.
District Attorney Robert Tendy, who prosecuted the case, said in a statement that the jurors have spoken and we must respect their verdict.
