Mount Kisco DPW workers got a big surprise Thursday when they opened a crate and found a live alligator. The crate, marked, "Do not open. Live Gator," was found outside the building used by the village's water department at the DPW garage. Workers found a 3- to 4-foot alligator in the box. Officials speculate that the alligator was someone's pet and it either got too big or too expensive to keep.
The workers moved the alligator to a secret location for its protection and are waiting for wildlife experts to retrieve the animal and find it a new home.
