The man police say made off with more than $40,000 from a Yonkers bank and sparked a massive manhunt faces a judge Thursday.
David Figueroa, 50, a former Yonkers resident, is accused of robbing the Webster Bank branch where he used to be a customer. Police say he entered the bank after 10 a.m. Wednesday and claimed to have a gun. He took a teller to the vault, authorities say, where he was given $43,000 and then escaped.
The subsequent manhunt turned up nothing, but police say someone at the bank recognized Figueroa. He turned himself in to police in Beacon after police determined that was where he was living.
Police say they were able to recover all of the stolen money.
