A tractor-trailer carrying gravel overturned on the Gov. Mario Cuomo Bridge Wednesday morning, blocking multiple southbound lanes.

The 5:30 a.m. incident, which involved two other cars, occurred near the bridge's mid-span, according to state police. Minor injuries were reported.

The accident caused extensive southbound traffic delays during the early rush hour, with traffic backing up into Rockland. The truck was removed by 7:40 a.m., but gravel clearance took until 8:30 a.m.

There is no word yet on what caused the accident or if any tickets were given out.

All lanes have since reopened.
