Officials locked down William A. Carter Elementary School on East Main Street in Middletown after a bomb threat Tuesday.
Wallkill police searched the building for an hour and ruled the call a hoax, the seventh such prank in the school district this year.
Police say a man contacted the school's main office around 9:30 a.m. to make the threat.
Officials say that despite the frequent false alarms, they must take every scare seriously.
Last week, police arrested a 9-year-old Middletown girl for allegedly making a threatening call during winter break.
The FBI is involved in the investigation into the other bomb hoaxes.
