President Joe Biden delivered his first State of the Union address to Congress Tuesday night.

And we don't want to get ahead of ourselves, but it sounds like this weekend, at least Saturday would be a great day to do that. Yeah, definitely better than Sunday. Sunday. We got a lot of rain on Tampa. I'm liking Saturday out and, and take care of those errands. If you want to pick up that tree, it's gonna do. We're gonna be looking at numbers a lot better than what we're dealing with for today. 41 is the forecast at high. You get a lot of today. We're not gonna get out of the thirties very much feeling like winter, which is 15 more days away. We bring it in December 21st this year we work our way into the mid part of this month. And yeah, I know we're, we're, we're, we're gonna start to cruise these next couple of weeks, wrapping up 2023. It's just gonna go lightning speed as you push forward through the rest of this morning. Again, we're working with some cloud cover, chance for a few flakes late morning and then as we head into this afternoon, uh, still won't rule out a chance for flakes. If we're really watching back out across the lower Hudson Valley, some of them could seep into our neck of the woods, but still, we're not worried about any accumulation or anything like that. Just putting it out there. Keep that in mind as you are out about heading into tonight, we're gonna really look at the clear skies and we're gonna see colder numbers into your tomorrow. It, same set up to what we had last week. Right Wednesday night into your Thursday, we dealt with the coldest here. Thursday is gonna be the coldest day on tap. Numbers not making it out of the thirties, chance for a few more flakes. But again, nothing to worry about too, too much as we head into your Friday. Friday morning is gonna be a chilly start, but we bounce back as we head into your Friday afternoon again. Feel like numbers for Thursday tomorrow morning. We'll be in the teens for areas up north. We're talking twenties for areas south of 84. And then as we head into your tomorrow afternoon, we really aren't gonna feel anything better out of the twenties. So we definitely want to bundle up another shot of some cold air will work with us for your tomorrow. Make sure you got your winter gear prepared Saturday. Again, it's gonna be the pick of the week as we work our way into the first half of the week and we're staying dry. Maybe some sunshine. One thing's for sure, moderate temperatures well into the fifties. So it isn't gonna feel old, too bad. First half of your Sunday looks good. Then we're watching a storm really bringing in some heavy rain which will impact your Sunday afternoon into your Sunday evening. Where for right now, that's when we're looking forward to be its worst along with some strong gusty damaging winds, potentially Sunday night into your Monday as well. Other than that, we're still gonna hold on to mild weather into the first part of your week before we start to trend cooler heading into the tail end of next Becky John.

For you today. Matt Hammers tell us, but we'll see some festive flakes fly. Yeah. And there could be at any point in the day today. Really Tara and tomorrow, but nothing that's really gonna slow people down or add up. Exactly as we take a look outside right now, still dark and early until we get closer to seven o'clock this morning. And it's going to be overall an ok day. You know, there will be a few flurries around at times. Otherwise it's certainly chilly. The morning temperatures are actually, you'd expect for this time of day, this time of the year, the mid thirties for the most part, 37 in Yonkers, right around 30 in Yorktown Heights. It's a little bit colder just below 30 in New City in 27 in Middletown right now. Live Doppler radar at the moment. Quiet overhead, top left of the screen. Those are some snow showers and flurries. Now, a lot of that activity stays to our west and northwest today, but a few of these flurries will survive the trip into the Hudson, especially late morning into the early part of the afternoon. So just don't be surprised to see a little bit of that. But yeah, it's not going to add up to really anything on the ground at all. As we go throughout midday, temperatures will be above freezing, mostly cloudy skies. Again, a few spotty flurries at times as we go throughout the afternoon. More of the same, it's chilly, a light spotty snow shower at times. Temperatures in the upper thirties as that is happening and even visibility won't be reduced too much, partly cloudy skies this evening. And overnight tonight, it will be colder tonight and early tomorrow morning than it is outside right now with morning temperatures all throughout the Hudson Valley in the twenties. But tomorrow, especially after eight or nine o'clock in the morning and through the early part of the afternoon, we actually have an even better chance to see a light passing snow shower. So highs today, right around 40 it's chilly, bundled up through the morning and into the afternoon. A couple of flurries around nothing significant, partly cloudy cold later on tonight with lows in the twenties into Thursday morning, another day tomorrow where it's chilly and we can have a couple of scattered flurries, sun and clouds on Friday, upper forties, mid FF on Saturday. That is still the pick of the week. Sunday. We are looking at some warm weather but it turns wet and windy, especially for Sunday evening and Sunday night before dry weather returns for really all of next week. Sun and clouds breezy and cool on Monday turning chillier through the rest of next week.

Three pints should do the job. And maybe next year there'll be a Christmas miracle. Christmas tree industry is pretty well known for feast and famine in terms of supply and demand. So I think things will get better. If you don't feel like cutting your own, you can always buy a pre cut tree. Prices are up, but balsams will run you less than a fur at a big box store. And of course, you can always buy an artificial one and use it year after year happy holidays. Everyone. I'm Janice Lieberman and that's the real deal. I saw a video on Instagram the other day, Sebastian Maniscalco asking what are they charging for Christmas trees by you? It's everywhere, it's going up and you know, depending on what type of tree you want. If you want the larger tree, those Frasier 1st 10 ft and higher. Yeah, those are the difficult ones to get this year. But uh you know, hey, whatever you do, no matter what the tree decorate it with the family. Have fun doing it. Enjoy the holiday season. Mostly cloudy skies today. There will be the threat of a passing rain or snow shower this afternoon and that's more of a nuisance. Most of our day will be dry and it will be cold temperature around 41 degrees for that hyper local high. And here's the other issue that northerly wind. Yeah, that's gonna make, it feels like temperatures, well, generally in the twenties and thirties. So that's what you need to dress for going throughout the day. Plus with all the clouds around and a little bit of moisture, it has a chill to the air, some snow showers and flurry north and west. And every now and then this afternoon, there may be one or two quick little rain, snow showers or flurry or Sprinkle moving on over Long Island. Take a look at this at around +343 45 there's a cold air temperatures around 38 to 39 degrees and there's that little stray flurry, snow shower, Sprinkle rain shower coming our way. Much more of a nuisance. A festive flake or two coming on through and that threat is with us through about 8 p.m. Then overnight skies clear tomorrow morning, lows are in the twenties to around 30. It's cold Thursday morning and then during the day on Thursday can't rule out once again, a quick little snow shower or a rain shower into Thursday afternoon for the start of Hanukkah. As we go towards sundown on Thursday, it's going to be cold. Temperatures are going to be in the thirties and towards sunset, a slight chance of a quick rain or snow shower and then we're dry overnight, Thursday into Friday. And by Friday afternoon we finally warm up. Now over the weekend, this is going to impact some of your plans and also will impact some of those holiday decorations because there's a threat of heavy rain, Sunday, late afternoon, Sunday evening and early Monday morning. And as the cold front approaches Long Island strong winds, there's a potential of winds, 40 to 50 MPH coming our way late Sunday afternoon through Sunday evening. So we'll have to watch this very closely and the impacts on Long Island highs today and in the low forties, lots of clouds, it's cold chance of that passing rain or snow shower, twenties for tonight. And we do have a warm up after the cold starts of Hanukkah fifties. Friday, Saturday, stormy weather near 60 on Sunday. Oh.

Saying, wow. Can you believe it's been around 20 years? It's crazy. It's crazy. I remember when that movie came out. That's nuts. But hey, get in the spirit, right. Christmas is coming. Hanukkah is this week. Isn't that exciting too? So definitely a lot to celebrate in the next coming weeks and days. We have a couple of festive flurries to just kind of compliment that right? I call them rogue flurries kind of coming from wind up clouds. No accumulation expected here in New Jersey, but we are warming up toward the weekend into the fifties. We go Friday and Saturday, but come Sunday, we're, we'll be in the sixties, believe it not. But that comes with stormy weather, Sunday, stormy conditions. Although it's very early in the forecast stages, I want to be transparent with you and let you know that we're watching for some gusty conditions along with downpours and maybe a squall line with thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon and evening. The timing is uncertain. The specific location of these impacts are uncertain and it's something that we're going to work out with the next couple of days. But I think it's important to let you know now that something is coming so that you can plan for it rather than wait until we know every little detail 100%. So, let's talk about today's forecast. A couple of windswept flurries coming through, maybe a rogue Sprinkle or two down toward Monmouth Ocean, Middlesex counties today. That's this afternoon because the temperature is going to be warming up into the forties tonight. It clears out briefly 30 degrees by tomorrow morning, it's cold, but then the clouds come back tomorrow and we'll see some rogue flurries and sprinkles all along the Delaware River up and down the western half of the New Jersey. So just be aware of that for Thursday, temperatures will be in the low forties by the afternoon high, but that's just that moment about three in the afternoon and it then finally clears out into Friday. Friday is a beautiful day, 5051 degrees, uh, the northeast corner of Bergen County, Passaic counties as well as Hudson and Essex County. Definitely looking at temperatures near 45 to 46 degrees. Morristown. Same deal there. Not too bad as the mild weather settles in. We hold on to that mild weather into Saturday too. You can see it's fair thin clouds, high pressure, sunny and mild, but we're going to be watching for this front come Sunday, strong wind and thunderstorms with that front. It's definitely going to knock down temperatures for early next week but could be pretty nasty. On Sunday night.

Alert Center: Reaction to President Biden’s State of the Union address

Jonathan Gordon joins us now from the alert center. So Jonathan, what are people saying about the president's address? Yeah, well, he definitely getting a lot of reaction tonight and you know, I really want to start off with what you said at the beginning, talking about the pandemic. The president mentioning of course that we are entering that new phase of the pandemic. That this is an opportunity to begin to do things more normally and really did thank the american people for doing everything that they've sacrificed for the last 2.5 years. We actually went out into the community and asked a couple of people about how they feel the pandemic will look like in the future. Covid, you know, we had it in the family and we lost people in our family. So we're glad that there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Yeah, certainly that light at the end of the tunnel And another part big part of this speech tonight was of course, talking about the economy, we've dealt of course with those in the inflation, you're feeling the pinch at the pump and this is all something that the President says he expects to reduce over time. It's something that he is working on. And just moments before the speech we spoke with Hudson Valley congressman Sean Patrick maloney about his thoughts on this. The economy is growing at a really exciting pace that new businesses are starting and while there are real barriers to folks um, at the gas pump and at the grocery store and that was we are not looking the other way. So throughout the night we had definitely, we had our social media flowing in here. We had our blog going up with more information and you can see right, a lot of reaction coming in. You have chuck schumer, jamal bowman, a lot of people john Kane on facebook. It's been a long time since the pope has gotten applause from both sides. It's wonderful to see Mayor mike Spano here in Yonkers weighing in the american rescue plan, which biden did talk about today, help cities like Yonkers address issues concerning mental health, the opioid pandemic and providing a better quality of life for our communities with the hashtag state of the union. And of course there has as we talked about that inflation marc molinaro as he writes, the state of our union, showing this picture little all far too familiar I would say at this point of just high gas prices. So getting reaction from all both sides of the aisle tonight, of course you still have the opportunity to weigh in on all our social media pages to let us know about what you think about tonight's address.
