An Orange County company is partnering with police to offer New Year's Eve partiers free taxicab or Uber rides home from Hudson Valley bars this holiday weekend.

The Dana Distributors program, Alert Cab, offers free cabs within 10 miles or Uber rides up to $10.

Rides are available from 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31 to 4 a.m. on New Year’s Day in Westchester, Putnam, Orange, Rockland and Sullivan counties.

Revelers can access the program by scanning a QR code onto a smartphone. The codes will be posted on flyers at bars.

“There are many excuses I’ve heard in my 30-plus years from intoxicated drivers. Those excuses won’t turn back the embarrassment of an arrest or worse, loss of life,” says Orange County Sheriff Paul Arteta. “We in law enforcement salute Dana Distributors for continuing efforts to provide this service.”

Organizers say Alert Cab will also be available this year for the first time on Super Bowl Sunday.
