A new affordable housing option officially opened Friday in Armonk.
County Executive Rob Astorino cut the ribbon to welcome Armonk Commons to the community.
The 10-unit, two-bedroom duplexes accommodate families with incomes at 80 percent of the Westchester County area's median income.
While some residents are worried about affordable housing in affluent communities, the developer says it's all a misconception.
"Everyone has the stigma of a project," said Lou Larizza, the developer of the project. "These are new home with people that need to have income to move in.
Six of the 10 duplexes have already been sold and four are in the process of being sold. For more information on affordable housing visit
