Critics of a recent settlement aimed at providing minorities with affordable housing in predominantly white communities in Westchester say the numbers in the plan do not add up.

Last week, Westchester County and the Department of Housing and Urban Development had reached an agreement under which the county will invest $51.6 million to build 750 units of affordable housing for minorities over the next seven years.

Rob Astornio, the GOP candidate for county executive, says Westchester government should hold hearings on the settlement to allow the people to speak out on it.

The county board has to approve the settlement proposal by Sept. 24.
