Police are trying to piece together an accident on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Yonkers that left one woman fighting for her life.

According to police, a Chevy Impala was traveling northbound on the parkway near the Jackson Avenue exit when the driver lost control. The car left the road and flipped over several times before landing in a wooded area.

Investigators say a man and a woman were in the vehicle. They say the woman suffered life-threatening injuries and the man, who sustained minor injuries, tried to flee the scene. Both victims were taken to Westchester Medical Center. Police say speed was a factor in the crash and are investigating it further.
