Despite changing spending habits during the economic downturn, moms across the Hudson Valley received the proper recognition Sunday.
Many families made heartfelt, homemade presents rather than buying pricey gifts to show their appreciation on Mother's Day.
"If you can see what my son made me, very special necklace," says Patty Uhlman. "My daughter Grace gave me some flowers in a pot and my son wrote me a poem."
The sluggish economy is affecting business at Badolato's Florist in Yonkers. Sales are down about 30 percent this Mother's Day, compared to last year. The owner says he's doing his best to serve customers.
"You have to work on everybody's budget; you just can't put the prices that used to be before," says Raul Hayre.
