Temperatures will be at their coolest levels for the week on Friday.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- On Friday, many locations will see their daytime highs struggle to get to 70 degrees. It is a far cry from it was Wednesday afternoon, when temperatures were breaking records and the Hudson Valley had it's first official heat wave.
- The good news about this cool down is that humidity levels have also gone down. A back-door cold front (a front that slides in from the northeast as supposed to coming from the west/northwest) is the reason for our heat relief.
- Saturday sees the front lifting past us again, this time allowing warmth and humidity to build back across there region. Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 80s but feel warmer than that. Another cold front will come by Saturday afternoon-evening timeframe, bringing a chance for scattered showers and storms. Some of the storms could turn strong to severe, bringing around gusty winds for the most part and downpours.
- Sunday is a drier and more pleasant day overall, with a mix of sun and clouds and comfortable levels of humidity. Enjoy it while it is here. The warmth and humidity build back up Monday and Tuesday, where Tuesday has a chance for more showers and storms to develop as another front swings by.
- The Fourth of July is in sight in the 10-day forecast. So far, it is looking good with seasonal temps, mostly sunny skies and typical levels of humidity for early July.

SATURDAY: Weather To Watch - Mix of sun and clouds through much of the day with a chance for thunderstorms in the afternoon to evening hours. Highs: mid-80s. Lows: mid to upper 60s.
SUNDAY: Mix of sun and clouds. Highs: low 80s. Lows: mid-60s.
MONDAY: Mix of sun and clouds. Highs: mid-80s. Lows: upper 60s to low 70s.
TUESDAY: Weather To Watch - JULY 1 - Partly cloudy with a chance for showers and scattered thunderstorms. Highs: upper 80s. Lows: upper 60s.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs: mid-80s. Lows: mid-60s.
THURSDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs: upper 80s. Lows: mid-60s.
FRIDAY: FOURTH OF JULY - Mostly sunny. Highs: mid-80s. Lows: mid-60s.
