Five eighth-grade boys from Chappaqua and Armonk are getting some worldwide recognition for creating an iPhone app for kids with autism.

The group named the "Robobenders" created a game that teaches facial recognition through the use of music.

The team is now in the semi-finals of the inaugural LEGO League Global Innovation Award. The Westchester group was chosen as one of 20 semi-finalists out of more than 500 entries worldwide finding innovative solutions to real-world problems. "It's really amazing. It started as our project, and we are actually helping people which is tremendous," says team member Zachary Eichenberger.

The app is called "What's My Face" and is now available in the app store.
