An eighth-grade boy was stabbed by a classmate on his way to school Wednesday morning in New Rochelle, according to authorities.
Police say the two boys from the Isaac E. Young Middle School had some sort of issue with each other and agreed to meet at a field before school to physically settle the score around 8:15 a.m.
During the fight, a 14-year-old male student was allegedly stabbed in the torso by a 13-year-old boy. Police say after the 13-year-old stabbed the victim, he walked to school and was quickly apprehended by police. The victim was taken to Jacobi Medical Center and is expected to be OK.
The 13-year-old male stabbing suspect has been taken into custody.
While police have not recovered the knife, they charged the 13-year-old student with second-degree assault. He was released into the custody of his parents.
The school was placed on lock-out for a short time while police investigated, but it was lifted around 11 a.m.
