(09/13/06) MOUNT PLEASANT - A driver, eight months pregnant, received a scare Wednesday when her minivan?s windshield was broken by a rock thrown from a passing school bus? window in Mount Pleasant.
Bridget McCarthy, of Hawthorne, was driving her two children and a neighbor?s child to preschool when, she says, she heard a crash and thud. She says a rock came flying out from the school bus passing by her vehicle. Immediately after the incident, McCarthy followed the bus and waved down a nearby patrol car. The officer caught up with the New York Board of Education school bus that departed from the Hawthorne Cedar Knowles Center and arrested a 15-year-old Manhattan boy. Nobody was physically harmed in the incident.
Cedar Knolls school officials say the incident is unfortunate and that appropriate actions are being taken.
