Nine people, including a small child, sustained injuries in a multivehicle crash on Christmas evening in Orange County.
Town of Crawford police reported heavy fog around 10 p.m. when the accident occurred at the intersection of Route 52 and County Route 17 in the Town of Crawford, just east of Pine Bush.
A KiaTelluride and an Audi S-4 were badly damaged. Town of Crawford police say a 42-year-old woman was driving the Kia with seven other passengers, including four children, northbound on Route 17 when she entered the Route 52 intersection and hit the Audi traveling westbound.
The Audi was driven by a 21-year-old man and had no other passengers.
All nine people were transported to Garnet Health Medical Center in Wallkill and Saint Luke's-Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh.
The seven passengers included three adults ranging from 40 to 75 years old, and four children ranging from 4 to 9 years old.
One adult and one child from the Kia are in critical condition. The rest are in stable condition.
Route 52 remained closed well past midnight but has since reopened.
