Six people are now displaced after an early morning fire destroyed a home in Rockland County.
Fire officials say flames sparked at a multi-family home on Prospect Street in Spring Valley around 4 a.m.
Officials say that the fire started in the attic, and there were no working smoke detectors.
One woman who lived on the attic says she woke up last night to the smell of smoke, grabbed her family, and quickly got out. "I woke up to banging and I was told to get out," says homeowner Marie Chatlin.
No one was injured. The Red Cross is working with the families to find a new place to live.
