Five firefighters were injured during a blaze at a White Plains house overnight.
Fire officials say flames broke out in the basement at 9 Milford Drive around 3 a.m.
The homeowner says his 21-year-old son woke the family up and got everyone outside safely. He says he tried to fight the flames himself, but the smoke became too overpowering.
Fire officials say of the five firefighters who were injured, four were treated and released. The fifth suffered second-degree burns after a stairwell gave way and he got partially stuck. He was taken to the hospital and eventually released.
Investigators are still looking into the cause of the flames
