There is an easy and free way for residents to get home on New Year's Eve if they plan on drinking.
Area law enforcement and Dana Distributors in Goshen have announced the 32nd annual "Alert Cab" program. The program will offer free cab rides home for New Year's Eve revelers from 4 p.m. on Wednesday through 2 a.m. on Thursday in Orange and Rockland counties.
Rockland County Sheriff Lou Falco says the program has helped cut down on drunken driving.
Officials say they plan to have stepped up patrols and DWI checkpoints on Wednesday night.
