Students at Ossining High School got an extended weekend after a power outage closed the campus Monday. Classes were canceled after the main electrical service burned out sometime after 1 a.m. According to Con Edison, the burned out feeder cable belongs to the school, not the utility. However, Con Edison is working as the contractor for the repairs. The school has a backup generator, but it only has enough power for heat and emergency lights in the hallways.
