A diverse group of 25 men and women were officially sworn in Wednesday as Yonkers police officers.
Proud parents and grandparents beamed with pride as the new recruits, who also hail from Yonkers, received their shields and officially accepted the oath to protect the city they call home.
The first official day for them at the police academy is Monday.
Then, six to eight weeks later, they will be in a patrol car and out on the streets.
