Teen stabbed in back on his way to school in Crown Heights

The NYPD says a teenage boy was stabbed in the back Friday in Crown Heights.

It happened near 823 Franklin Ave. just before 10 a.m.

The teen was on his way to school at the International High School at Prospect Heights when he was stabbed, according to the School Safety Union. They say the wounded teen ran into the school.

Police say EMS took him to Maimonides Hospital, where he is expected to recover.

The School Safety Union says the victim is 15 years old, while the NYPD tells News 12 that he is 16.

Police say they are searching for a male suspect who ran from the scene dressed in all black. He is around 5 feet 7 inches tall and 130 pounds.

Information about what sparked the attack was not immediately available.
