2 killed, 8 wounded after multiple shooters open fire at Trenton block party
Prosecutors say about 100 people were at the gathering on Locust Street.

Two people were killed and eight others wounded when multiple shooters opened fire on a large block party early Sunday in Trenton, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office.
Trenton police responded around 12:25 a.m. to the 100 block of Locust St. for a shooting in progress. Investigators said approximately 100 people were attending a block party when multiple suspects walked up and began firing into the crowd.
A 33-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man were killed. Eight other victims, two women and six men ranging in age from 23 to 43, were treated at Capital Health Regional Medical Center and stabilized, according to prosecutors.
Investigators recovered more than 50 spent shell casings from a crime scene that stretched across the entire 100 block of Locust Street. Multiple vehicles were also struck by gunfire.
No arrests have been made. Mercer County Homicide Task Force detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and looking for witnesses who may have information about the shooting.
Mayor Reed Gusciora said Sunday that the city plans additional measures aimed at preventing large unauthorized gatherings from taking over residential streets, including earlier identification of gatherings, increased coordination of law enforcement resources and enforcement of existing laws and ordinances.
The city also plans to send street teams and community partners into the Wilbur Section of the city to speak with residents, gather information and work to prevent retaliation or additional violence, according to Gusciora.
Gov. Mikie Sherrill said Sunday that she had been briefed on the shooting and that her attorney general remained in close contact with local officials. Sherrill expressed condolences to the victims and their families and thanked first responders and law enforcement.
