Former Woodridge trustee killed in hit-and-run outside Village Hall

A former village trustee and volunteer firefighter was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Sullivan County.

State police said Ronald Kates was struck by a vehicle outside Village Hall in Woodridge on Wednesday.

Kates died from his injuries.

Officials said Kates was a member of the Woodridge Fire Department and previously served as a village trustee.

Police are searching for the driver who fled the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to contact state police.
