A group of future guide dogs took an important step Monday afternoon toward their future careers helping people with vision loss.
Guiding Eyes for the Blind partnered with Pilots to the Rescue to transport puppies from Westchester County Airport to volunteer puppy-raisers, who will care for and train them over the next 14 to 16 months.
The volunteers help socialize the dogs and introduce them to everyday environments before they return to Guiding Eyes' New York campus for formal guide dog training.
Organizers say the partnership helps connect more puppies with raisers and supports the development of the next generation of guide dogs.
