Gov. Hochul warns Medicare changes could increase prescription drug costs for 1.3 million New Yorkers

New York seniors could soon pay more for their prescription drugs, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul.
Hochul visited a senior center in Westchester County on Monday to warn about the potential impact of changes to Medicare prescription drug coverage.
The governor's concerns come after the Trump administration announced plans to end the Medicare Part D Premium Stabilization Program.
Hochul is urging federal officials to reverse the decision, saying it could lead to higher costs for approximately 1.3 million New Yorkers enrolled in Medicare.
"Here we are trying to put more money back into people's pockets, trying to focus on all the pressure points where you're paying more," Hochul said.
She warned that seniors are already struggling with rising expenses.
"So, people are getting discouraged, I get it," Hochul said.
The governor says if the program is eliminated, many Medicare recipients could face higher monthly prescription drug premiums beginning next year.
