Governor Ned Lamont praised the U.S. Navy's award of $76.6 billion in contracts to General Dynamics Electric Boat for additional Columbia-class and Virginia-class submarines, as well as shipyard infrastructure improvements.

The funding includes $29.5 billion for five additional Columbia-class submarines and $42.1 billion for nine additional Virginia-class submarines.

“This is fantastic news for Connecticut and for Electric Boat,” Governor Lamont said. “These contracts reinforce Electric Boat’s role as the nation’s premier submarine builder and create years of opportunities for Connecticut workers, families, and communities.”

Lamont said the investment will support continued job growth in the New London area and reflects the state's ongoing commitment to housing, transportation, education, and workforce development initiatives that help attract and retain skilled workers.

“Congratulations to the men and women of Electric Boat and thank you for your work keeping our country safe,” Lamont said.
