Wanda Coach bus overturns on NYS Thruway in Ulster County

State police say about 23 passengers were on board. No life-threatening injuries have been reported.

A Wanda Coach bus overturned Tuesday morning on the New York State Thruway in Ulster County, sending multiple passengers to area hospitals.

The crash happened around mile marker 69.5 in the southbound lanes between exits 18 and 17 in the Town of Plattekill.

According to New York State Police, about 23 passengers were on board the southbound bus. Police said no life-threatening injuries have been reported.

Firefighters, EMS crews and New York State Thruway Traffic Safety personnel responded to the scene. Mutual aid from Orange County, including Town of Newburgh EMS and the Cronomer Valley Fire Department’s technical rescue team, was also requested to assist.

As of Tuesday morning, the left southbound lane and the left northbound lane of the Thruway remained closed while crews worked at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
