A woman has been indicted for a deadly hit-and-run in Atlantic Beach.

Erin Henry, 67, of Long Beach, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a felony charge of leaving the scene of an incident without reporting resulting in death.

As News 12 reported, Henry hit a man who was riding his bike and kept driving, leaving him to die, prosecutors say.

The incident happened on Beech St. on March 24 around 8 a.m. when the school nurse was returning home to get belongings for work that she had forgotten, according to the district attorney’s office.

The victim, Tony Thomas, 59, of Far Rockaway, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.

“Quick thinking witnesses recorded Henry’s license plate, and she was located by police driving to work as if nothing had happened, callously blaming a fictious boulder for the beloved grandfather’s death when she was pulled over and questioned,” DA Anne Donnelly said.

She faces up to 2-1/3 to 7 years in prison if convicted.
