A Rockland County family has quite a birth story to tell after their newest arrival made an unexpected entrance on the way to the hospital.
The Burns family of West Nyack welcomed baby Austin into the world last week during a 2 a.m. drive.
The family tells News 12 that just minutes after leaving home, Austin decided he wasn't waiting any longer.
While turning onto Route 59, Austin's mother delivered the baby in the front passenger seat of the family's vehicle. he parents then met an ambulance at a nearby Dunkin', where first responders cut the umbilical cord before taking the family to the hospital.
It's said around 1.5% percent of babies are born outside of a hospital every year.
News 12 is happy to report that Austin, his mom and dad are all doing well.
The family says Austin's two older siblings have already fallen in love with their new little brother.
