WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The rain comes in two waves through tonight. It will be steady to heavy at times through the evening commute and then pick back up after about midnight with a few thunderstorms. The next wave will bring some heavy rain for Tuesday morning's commute.
About 1 to 2 inches of rain will fall with some locally higher amounts in spots. All of this rain at once may cause nuisance flooding for poor drainage spots, including streets. Use caution when driving, as visibility will be poor as well.
After a bit of a lull this evening, the rain picks back up heading into Tuesday. Showers may slow after the morning commute but linger into the afternoon. The weather will improve for the evening and overnight.
Temperatures will stay cooler tomorrow, too, with highs in the 70s. It warms back up on Wednesday with 80s that will continue through the rest of the week.
The next chance of rain is Friday into Saturday. Stay tuned to News 12 Connecticut for all the latest weather updates.
